Toronto Star bestsellers for Oct. 2, 2024

Sally Rooney’s latest, “Intermezzo,” was Canada’s bestselling book last week. No surprise there, given the Irish novelist’s Harry Potter-level fan base. Her work is within the realm of “literary” fiction (in her case smart, perceptive stories of entangled love) and has struck a resonant chord with her millennial readers (read: young women).
But the week also brings good reading for Gen X women, viz. a new love story from Nicholas Sparks, “Counting Miracles,” his 23rd saga of love and redemption. It debuts at No. 2.
Boomers, meanwhile, can dig into the latest thriller from Jeffrey Archer, “An Eye for an Eye,” featuring his long-time series sleuth William Warwick. This is the 42nd work by the 84-year-old writer (plus life peer, former London mayor, MP and convicted felon) and it joins the list at No. 8.
